Día del encuentro con Lucille y Riley.

What I did was, 'cause I was a praying woman, I prayed on it. I prayed to the blues spirits. I did. I sat outside. It was a full moon and I prayed to all the spirits and  asked them to show me what I needed to know.... And I asked to be an open channel for them come through me and it did really happen. And not only  -it wasn't just Ma Rainey or Bessie Smith, it was Howling Wolf, it was Muddy Waters, it was Lightnin' Hopkins, it was Alberta Hunter. All of 'em,  and they still come to me. You know who has been hanging with me real thoug now? Howling Wolf. He's been hanging with me real tough and I can just - it's the feeling. All I can say is it's just a gut feeling

Lo que hice, porque era una mujer creyente, fue implorar. Imploré a los espíritus del blues. Lo hice. Salí. I don´t like to sing too many sad songs. I always like songs upliftin people. If a person is sad, I like for to uplift them in a good mood.

No me gusta cantar demasiadas canciones tristes. Siempre me han gustado las canciones que animen a la gente. Si una persona esta triste, me gusta llevarle a una buena onda. Así es como me gusta.

I think all African-American music coincides. We have to categorize in order to get an understanding but I think  it´s all like a big pot of stew. You have different things -but it´s all kind of in together. All music is an expression of what you feel,  isn´t it?  

That´s where blues begins.

Yo creo que toda la música Afroamericana coincide. Tenemos que categorizarla para lograr cierto entendimiento de ella, pero creo que es como una gran olla de guisado. Tienes diferentes cosas, pero todas se mezclan en una sola. Toda la música es una expresión de lo que sientes, no es así? Ahí es donde el Blues comienza.

Ever since I´ve been playing,   I´ve been really busy. Iwas the onliest one. I was selected to play the bass. They made me a bass out of a plant of wood or something. That was the bass I started playing on. Elmore James gave it to me to play on. When I get so I can´t have fun playing, I don´t think I´ll play anymore. 

It´s not that you´re making so much money out there. You just got to enjoy what you´re doing

He estado ocupado  desde que empecé a tocar. Era el único.  Fuí elegido para tocar el bajo. Me hicieron un bajo de un pedazo de madera o algo así. Ese fue el bajo con el que comencé. Elmore James me inspiró. Cuando ya  no me divierta tocando entonces ya no lo haré nunca más. Y no es que ganes mucho dinero con ello. Sólo tienes que disfrutar lo que haces.
